How to Strip Paint Off of Cupboard Doors
- 1). Remove the doors and remember to save the hinges and knobs if you plan to reuse them. Mark the doors with the permanent marker so you will know where to hang them once you are finished. Lay the doors across saw horses or table.
- 2). Apply gel paint remover to one or two doors at a time. Let the gel sit per the manufacturer's instructions.
- 3). Gently roll back the old paint with the paint scraper. Be careful not to make holes in the wood with the paint scraper, as the wood will be soft.
- 4). Wipe off the paint and paint remover with rags. When you are finished removing the paint, use a wet cloth to remove all the residue of paint remover left.
- 5). Repaint or refinish and hang. Reattach the handles.
