How to Paint Skirtings
- 1). Prepare your paint, and clean the skirting to ensure that it is free from dust and other particles.
- 2). Begin by painting the top edge of the skirting against the wall by holding the paintbrush upright and pulling it in a straight line against the top edge. Position the piece of stiff card directly behind the paintbrush as you paint to ensure that you do not transfer any paint onto the wall.
- 3). Paint the bottom edge of the skirting against the floor by pulling the paintbrush in a straight line against the bottom edge. Hold the piece of stiff card beneath the paint to keep it from dripping onto the floor.
- 4). Paint the corners of skirtings against the junction of two walls by pressing the paintbrush into the corner of the two skirtings to coat the cracks well and then blend the paint outward from there.
- 5). Paint the middle of the skirting with broad brushstrokes, smoothing the paint evenly, once you have painted the edges.
