How to Get a Liquor Permit in Indiana
- 1). Determine the type of license required for your particular type of establishment. Indiana has a variety of liquor licenses for business ranging from corner stores to restaurants.
- 2). Download the application and forms from the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission's website. Applicants must provide detailed information such as financial statements, criminal and personal history and type of establishment you wish to license. Complete the application and return the paperwork to the listed address.
- 3). Attend the hearing as set by the Commission. The Commission meets on the first Tuesday of the month at the county courthouse. At the hearing, answer all questions in a forthright manner.
- 4). Allow the state excise police inspector access to your establishment to conduct a visual tour. The inspector will monitor the day to day workings of your business and determine whether the business has secure storage space.
- 5). Check the mail for the Commission's decision. The decision may not arrive for several weeks to a month. If the license is denied, you have 15 days to appeal the decision and request a new hearing.
