  Russell Square is located in Bloomsbury, at the hub of London life. There are many hotels and hostels in the area ranging from expensive to affordable. As the area is very close to major theaters, tourist attractions, fine restaurants and pubs, you won't be spending much money on black cabs, nor thinking about missing the last tube back to the hotel. The area is known for the "Bloomsbury Group," a group of writers and artists, which included, Charles Dickens, George Bernard Shaw, Virginia Woolf and Charles Darwin who held informal discussions in the 20th century. Jenkins Hotel

• According to a London newspaper Mail on Sunday, this hotel is one of "ten of the best" value hotels. An episode of Agatha Christies' Poirot was filmed here. This Georgian townhouse hotel is a typical traditional English bed and breakfast. With only 14 rooms, the hotel is rather small but you will feel very much at home. • This backpacker's hostel has 214 single, twin, triple, quad and dorm rooms. The dorm rooms typically have between four and 14 beds. With its industrial décor and blue neon lights it is one of the funkiest budget hotels in London. The bar stays open until 2 a.m. and there are frequent drinking competitions.
