Print and Tape Hat Box

• 1). Go to "printmini.com/printables/gran/hatbox1b.shtml"
  Print out one of the printable, colored hat boxes.
  
  
• 2). Cut the hat box out on the pattern lines, fold the box sides up and tape the flaps to the inside of the hat box with transparent tape. Fold the solid-colored half of the flaps down into the box, adding a drop of glue beneath the flap to secure.
  
  
• 3). Repeat instructions for creating the hat box lid, and then place the lid onto the hatbox.
  
  

Fabric-covered Hat Box

• 1). Form the wide cardstock rectangle (3-3/4-inches long by-1-inch wide) into a loop and tape inside with transparent tape. Place this loop on top of the circle (1-1/8-inch in diameter) and tape the loop to the circle, inside, with transparent tape. This is the hat box.
  
  
• 2). Form the cardstock rectangle (4-inches long by 1/2-inch wide) into a loop and tape inside with transparent tape. Place this loop on top the circle (1-1/4-inch diameter) and tape the loop to the circle, inside with transparent tape. This is the hatbox lid.
  
  
• 3). Use a liberal amount of white school glue to attach the corresponding fabric pieces to the outside of the hatbox and to the outside of the hatbox lid.
  
  
• 4). Place the hat box and the hat box lid on top of a dishtowel. Pour 1-cup of undiluted, liquid fabric starch into a bowl.
  
  
• 5). Dip the hat box into the liquid fabric starch until fully saturated. Repeat with the hat box lid. Place both onto the dishtowel. Stuff fiberfill stuffing into the hatbox to help maintain the shape. Stuff a tiny bit of stuffing into the hat box lid to maintain the shape. Allow the fabric-covered hat box and hat box lid to thoroughly dry until stiff. Remove the fiberfill stuffing.
