  Whether you focus on the color or the flavor, an orange-themed children's party can wake up a long winter school break or celebrate the beginning of summer. Not just for Halloween anymore, an orange theme helps provide focus and structure to any kid's party or sleepover.   Ask all the guests to come in orange-colored clothing and decorate the party room with orange streamers and balloons. Provide all-orange paper products and bag up guest take-away gifts in orange gift bags. Frost a cake with orange frosting, and serve up a cheddar cheese pizza and orange-colored snacks like cheese puffs and oranges. Use the color orange in your party games as well: play Pass the Orange instead of Hot Potato, or play volleyball with an orange-colored ball.

  Most kids love oranges in fruit drinks and frozen treats, so bring a little vitamin C into their birthday or slumber party as well. Use oranges on the party invitation and play up the theme with paper orange slices decorating the party room. Serve chocolate-covered orange slices, orange sherbet and sugar cookies frosted to look like orange slices. Play party games that test kid's orange knowledge by asking orange-related trivia questions (see resource link). Or challenge them to come up with as many words as they can using the letters in the word "orange."

  Kids love doing arts and crafts. Help them create a variety of orange-colored craft projects to keep them busy and happy during party hours. Use orange felt and fabric glue to make "ugly dolls" with older kids (see resource link). Or string a variety of orange-colored beads to make beautiful bracelets that can signify your child's many friendships. Use acrylic paints to paint faces on small pumpkins around Halloween, or paint on oranges just for fun. You can also help kids make tie-dye T-shirts with orange tie-dye cords.

  Little girls love to play dress-up, so have a "pamper party" with an orange theme. Ask parents' permission first, then mix up some orange Kool-Aid hair coloring to add fun, temporary orange streaks to the guests' hair (see resource link). Use orange-colored nail polish for manicures and pedicures. Help kids use orange embroidery thread to make friendship bracelets. Or pick up some inexpensive orange-colored beads to make beaded bracelets and necklaces to complete the dress-up transformation.
