The Symptoms of Ovulation

2
By comparison, the woman's body endures many more continual biological changes than does the male: pre-menstrual symptoms, menstrual cycle, menopause, ovulation symptoms, a ten month stretch of pregnancy, and giving birth.
It does make one pause and ponder as to why we are viewed as the weaker vessel.
Men may very well pack their bags and cash out if their bodies had to cyclically tolerate what women's body's tolerate.
In this article, we will discuss the process that ultimately brings forth males and females into this world: the process and symptoms of ovulation.
Ovulation occurs when a mature ovarian follicle erupts and releases an ovum most commonly called an egg.
The egg then travels along the fallopian tube going toward the womb where it can become fertilized by a man's sperm causing the woman to conceive a child.
While the egg can only live for up to twenty-four hours, the sperm in search of the egg can live for up to three to five days.
During this time, there are outward symptoms occurring while all of this is going on inside the woman's body.
Movement of the Cervix A woman that knows her own body can feel for her cervix and know of which of two positions it is in: low, hard, and close, or slightly lifted up, a bit softer, and with an opening.
When it's in the latter position, it is preparing to receive sperm to swim in and penetrate an egg.
This causes the conception of a baby.
Change in Texture and Color of Cervical Fluid It is common for cervical fluid to be released minimally from the vagina.
From a physically healthy woman, this liquid is either clear or very pale white.
During the ovulation process, its' color becomes more of a cloudy white while the texture then changes to a thicker substance that is very similar to raw egg whites.
Basal Temperature Increases Due to the increase in progesterone, the woman's basal temperature reaches its' peak during this process.
The progesterone then produces estrogen.
Again, it is preparing the body for impregnation.
This can be detected by the woman by simply taking her temperature using a basal thermometer.
During this time, an outward show of mood swings may occur in the woman.
Cramping of the Pelvis Though its' of little concern, some woman experience discomfort or a slight pain on one or both sides of the pelvic.
This is caused by the ovum/egg released finding it's way along the wall of the fallopian tube anticipating potential penetration of a man's sperm resulting in impregnation.
Increase in Sexual Desire To every misery, there is a silver lining.
In this case, it's an upswing for romance.
With all of this hormonal activity going on, it is only natural that the libido of the woman is highly increased for most women.
Yet again a signal that the body is ready to be impregnated whether the mind is ready or not.
But, of course, the mind has control over the body.
Minor Alterations of the Physical Body A heightened sense of taste, smell, and/or vision is common place as well as the breast becoming very tender to the touch.
Increase in water weight gain causing the abdomen to bloat is ordinary as well.
Though these symptoms are no fun to endure, they are not red flags of anything gong wayward.
They are simply discomforts which women have learned to cope.
Women's bodies having been going through, "the change," since the beginning of time.
Like it or not, it shall be that way until the process of menopause is complete.
That is another topic for another article...
and for another day.
In the mean time, if you are a woman that has a hard time going through these changes monthly, hang in there.
This, too, shall pass...
