It wasn't that long ago that a buddy of mine asked me if I thought he should create an eBook, or instead create a video product.
I asked him what topic he wanted to talk about.
It was taxes.
Specifically, tax issues surrounding starting and running an online business.
I was immediately interested in the topic since I'm always trying to better understand how to run my business while staying compliant with the tax authorities.
Now stop and think about this for a moment.
Would you rather purchase an eBook that contains a table of contents or would you rather have to sit and sift through a 4 hour video that talks about taxes? See, there's nothing wrong with video.
But the dilemma is that not all information is best delivered via video.
Make sense? Now, my friend could certainly include links to video snippets from within the pages of the eBook, but to make everything video based would be ridiculous.
By contrast, if the topic of this information product were to be how to check and change the oil in your car, then having a video would be really helpful.
Showing someone what to do instead of having to meticulously explain it in words makes more sense.
Here's the bottom line.
In a video dominated world, eBooks are more important than ever.
Let someone download the digital publication and simple embed relevant video links within the pages of the publication.
Don't make the mistake of simply handing someone a 4+ hour tax video and assume you're doing them a favor.
