How to Make a Golf Ball Core in Illustrator
- 1). Start Illustrator. Select “File” from the menu at the top and click “New.” In the dialog that appears, type in the width and height you want for your document and click “OK.”
- 2). Select the “Ellipse” tool from the toolbar. In the options at the top, set the “Fill” color to white and the “Stroke” color to black.
- 3). Hold down the “Shift” key and drag out a circle that will form the outside of the ball.
- 4). Change the “Fill”color to black. Hold down the “Shift” and “ALT” keys while you drag out another circle from the center of the previous one. You want the black to be almost to the edge of the ball.
- 5). Change the “Fill” color to light green. Hold down the “Shift” and “ALT” keys while you drag out another circle from the center of the previous one. This one should be farther away from the black edge. The result so far is a green core surrounded by a black layer and a very thin white outer shell.
- 6). Select the green section. Select “Edit” from the menu at the top and choose “Copy.” Select “Effect” from the menu and choose “SVG Filters.” From the options, choose “Woodgrain.”
- 7). Go to the bottom of the “Layers” panel and click on “New Layer.” Select “Edit” from the menu and choose “Paste in Place.” Go to the options at the top and reduce the “Opacity” to 75. Save your work.
