Dog Training Commands, The Basics

22
The basic dog training commands are the foundation to a great ongoing relationship with your dog.
The trick in this is one of consistency.
The dog will learn only after repeated training sessions.
Do two to three sessions a day, each session lasting fifteen to twenty minutes.
If possible, do the training sessions just before a meal so the animal associates his training with something pleasant.
Some of the basic dog training commands are: sit, stay, come, down.
Before giving the dog training commands always say your dogs name.
Sit: Hold a biscuit above the dogs head and with the other hand force his hindquarter into a sitting position.
While doing so say his name and "sit".
Give him a biscuit.
Repeat.
Stay and Come: Have your dog sit and give a biscuit.
Start backing up with an open hand pointed towards the dog and at the same time repeating the command "stay".
Goa short distance and then say "come".
If he does it properly give him a biscuit.
If he gets up before you say "come", say "no" and start the process all over Down: Put your dog in the sitting position.
show him a biscuit you have in your hand and lower it towards the floor while giving the command "down".
If he lunges for the biscuit repeat the process.
These are but a few of the dog training commands you can teach your dog.
They are indeed the basics, but will form a good foundation if you want to get more sophisticated actions out of your dog.
