Cabinet Knobs Have Sensible and Attractive Features

Have you ever sat down after a long, hard day and allowed your eyes to glaze over and just enjoy your surroundings? The next time you do this exercise, examine your surroundings.
Chances are high that you will look at the smaller nooks and crannies in your home, rather than the entire overall room itself.
Replacing or reinstalling faulty or old, damaged cabinet knobs are the perfect way for you to update your home's style without any major inconveniences or major price tags.
But before you run wild with the idea of a home renovation project, follow these guidelines.
Guideline #1: Pick a Room to Accessorize Since home renovation projects are often accompanied by clouds of dust, headaches, over-spending and general discomfort, the thought of simply replacing a few small objects may seem like an easy task.
Do not get ahead of yourself.
Carefully plan out which rooms you'd like to update such as the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms or storage spaces.
Now, with a pen and paper, you should count the current number of cabinets, cabinet handles and cabinet hinges.
This is a crucial step; you do not want to waste money on unnecessary home hardware.
Likewise, you do not want to have to buy extra pieces because you forgot a few here and there; you could run the risk of purchasing mis-matching accessories.
Guideline #2: Get Serious With Various Sizing Not all cabinet pulls are made alike.
On your list of numbers of cabinets and their corresponding hinges, pulls and screws, you should also include the dimensions of the cabinet itself, along with the approximate diameter of the current cabinet pulls.
This way, you'll know what size you had at first.
However, before you simply replace the very same hardware you had, consider bumping up your sizes.
For busier areas of the home, having a larger area to grasp might make life easier (such as cooking dinner under a time crunch or frantically looking for your car keys!).
Contrarily, if you would like to keep some hazardous or personal items out of the line of temptation, do not draw attention to those drawers, shelves or cabinets with a large handle.
Guideline #3: Shape Up With Style Knobs and pulls are traditionally, well, just that-cabinet knobs and pulls.
But just because most homes have boring, typical cabinetry hardware does not mean you should too.
Spicing up your design with a few bold shapes is the perfect way to accent what cabinets, drawers and shelves you have already installed without the cost of a new renovation project.
So go ahead and be bold! If your bathroom's theme is fish, why not install a few unique drawer pulls of goldfish or guppies? Likewise, this is a great hands-on project to involve your children with.
If you have a budding astronomer in your household, allowing him or her to pick out drawer knobs in the shape of stars or planets is ultra cool.
Plus, taking the time to replace the cabinet accessories will give children a sense of accomplish and best of all, all you have to do is supervise (depending on age, of course).
Guideline #4: Evaluate the Location Based on Purpose Have you ever noticed that drawer pulls are centered on the faceplate of the drawer, while cabinet knobs are often located in the top corners of the faceplate? Have you ever tried to quickly open a cabinet or drawer and found yourself grasping multiple times until you finally opened it? Perhaps you should reconsider moving the location of the knob.
While drawers and cabinets below waist level might be easier to open via corners, mid to high cabinets, and certainly overhead cabinets, are more easily opened by reaching in the middle where you are less likely to miss.
If you choose to create a new hole, be sure to patch up the old area properly or replace the front of your cabinet altogether.
