Time Twittered & Wasted
Twitter.
com...
I really do not know where to start with this.
To be quite honest I am trying to find a legitimate purpose to being a member to this site.
After spending some time I can discern some redeemable qualities but nothing that seems to stand out.
Anyhow, read on and $500 million may seem like a good offer for Twitter (Profy.
com*)...
maybe too much? At first glance Twitter.
com seems like a jumbled mess or a glorified website of "Facebook status".
On a positive note many large companies such as Whole Foods Market and Cisco Systems use this site to provide information on products and services.
NASA used Twitter to break news that water ice had been found on Mars.
The L.
A.
Fire Department used the technology during the 2007 wildfires (Wikipedia.
com**).
These are certainly quality endeavors that help back up Twitter as a useful entity on the Internet.
It seems as though a small handful of Twitter users actually have something useful that they are posting so as to get updates using RSS and SMS.
Unfortunately I would have to say that 95% of the users have nothing to say.
You can update on how you hate the new Guns N' Roses album but love Day & Age by The Killers.
"What are you doing?" is Twitter's tag line when you Google it.
To be quite honest, I don't care what you are doing.
That goes for most of my friends as well.
If I wanted to know what you were doing every hour I would call you.
This website is mostly for those with too much time on their hands or are bored with their own lives.
Don't get me wrong, I am not dumping on the fact that it could be helpful to warn in case of fires (check the news or look out your window) or keep people informed of products and services (go to the company's website)...
Okay, so I am dumping on it.
Twitter.
com is just another way to waste time on the Internet during your hopeless job search in this time of recession.
If you have the time to spend on this website get a hobby.
Seriously.
