Marriage License Requirements in B.C.
- Many insurance agencies and notary publics can provide a license. Probably the easiest place to go is a Service BC office run by the provincial government.
- You must be at least 19 to get a license in B.C. If you are younger than that, your parents must fill out a consent form; no one under 16 can get married.
- Bring documents proving your full legal names, dates of birth and places of birth. A birth certificate is an easy choice for this. If you don't have one, you may be asked to show your driver's license, passport, and/or a credit or bank card.
- The fee for a B.C. marriage license is $100. The money is due when you apply and is non-refundable, even if you don't get married.
- Your license must be used in B.C. within three months. Your wedding officiant will register the marriage for you with Vital Statistics, and a legal record of the marriage will be kept on file there.
