A few weeks ago I received a message from a friend asking me if I had heard that a colleague we both knew was extremely ill with stage 4 colon cancer.
My friend gave the background of why this was all a secret at the moment.
Although I hadn't heard anything, I debated with myself whether or not to contact our colleague and express my good wishes.
Yesterday I received an email forwarded by request from the initial sender.
This message removed all questions about what was going on with our colleague who I will refer to as "Cindy.
" Cindy let everyone know the facts of her case.
She had had a large tumor removed from her colon.
Because there was a very poor prognosis from the doctors, with virtually no hope that any known treatments would assist her, Cindy elected to avoid the devastating side-effects of chemotherapy and, instead, used various forms of alternative medicine including energy-based healing of which she was an excellent practitioner.
I don't know the emotions Cindy is going through.
I do know that she asked people who received her email to send it to anyone who might know her.
In the message she talked about her desire to live but that the chances were very poor.
In her message she welcomed communication from anyone who wanted to say anything to her as "now is the time.
" How would receiving an email such as this affect you? Cindy did several things in this email.

• She ended the rumors.
  
• She admitted to herself and others that life was soon ending for her.
  
• She implied her struggles about dying by saying, "I want to live.
  "
• She asked for support by letting people know "the time is now" for any messages.
  
• She stated her boundaries regarding how she could receive messages and visits.
  

I don't know how others are responding to Cindy's email.
Knowing my colleagues I am sure there is a mixture of sadness, shock, helplessness, grief and a strong desire to "do" something.
Many of those Cindy knows are energy healers, including myself.
We reach out to people through energy healing.
We not only know, but have experienced the power of energy based healing, especially those of us who are practitioners of BodyTalk.
In addition to the wonders we have seen in our chosen line of work, we also know everyone has a soul path.
It may simply be her time to leave the planet no matter how much she wants to stay, or we want her to live.
There are a number of things beyond our personal control.
This is one of them.
I am very appreciative of her honesty.
Not only did she take care of herself, but she also took care of us.
She has given us the gift of closure.
She has given us the chance to eliminate the, "I wish I had told her...
"
