As the years pass us by, it is increasingly more difficult to keep our weight under control. With fast food on every street corner or even just a phone call away, it's not hard to see why. Most of us though want to do something about it even if it's something simple. In the following article you'll discover a five step process you can use to build muscle and burn fat starting today.

Step 1. Drink more water - We have been told this for many years for one reason, it works. When you consume more h2o your body stays hydrated and also flushes your body of any impurities. When your body is hydrated it functions more efficiently giving a slight increase to your metabolism.

Step 2. Cut sugar intake down in your diet - This step may be a little hard for some to follow. We all like sweet stuff, some more than others. The problem with too much sugar is that is gets stored in fat if it's not used. When you cut down on your sugar intake you cut down on the amount of fat you store. Common sense right.

Step 3. Begin an exercise program - This is a step that many people try to avoid but it is very important. Once you begin to exercise and have cut down your sugar intake, the body has only one place to go for energy, your fat. When this happens a whole new you begins to surface. You'll also notice that you have more energy.

Step 4. Follow a healthier diet - When you begin to exercise you may notice a little soreness. This is normal and can be attributed to the tearing down of your muscles. To combat this you need to eat a healthier diet that is high in protein. Protein is the best thing to resolve the soreness in your muscles.

Step 5. Get some rest - Don't pass over this last step as it is a very important one in this process. When we rest our bodies have the time it needs to repair our muscles. It is recommended that we get 6 to 7 ours of sleep every night. I know for some of us this is not possible but just get as much as you can.

Don't get discouraged if you catch yourself cheating on your sugar intake or healthy eating.
