How to Change a Water Filter on a Whirlpool Refrigerator
- 1). Determine the location of your refrigerator's water filter. Some models are located in the freezer, while others are in the refrigerator proper. Locating the filter may require removing items from the refrigerator or freezer so you are able to safely replace filter.
- 2). Securely grasp the filter and turn it counter clock wise to remove. Water filters have a threaded male end that attach into an opening in the refrigerator.
- 3). Place new filter into threaded opening. Turn clockwise until securely tightened.
- 4). Use a towel to wipe up an excess water or debris from refrigerator shelves that may have leaked from filter.
- 5). Reset the filter change indicator light. To do this, simply press down on refrigerator's light switch five times within ten seconds.
