Bankruptcy Procedure

• The bankruptcy process starts by filing a petition for bankruptcy. In most cases, you will file under chapter 7, 12 or 13 unless you have business assets to protect, in which case you may choose a Chapter 11 petition. Along with the petition, you must file a schedule of all creditors, proof that you have completed the required pre-bankruptcy credit counseling and various other documents that will vary depending on your circumstances and the chapter under which you file.
