Hi.
I just finished read "The Sales Bible" by Jeffery Gitomer.
The book is filled with top notch information for anybody who is in the sales business.
One of his chapters is about Networking and how to be a superstar networker.
1.
When you go to a social event; in the beginning and near the end of the event, stand by the entrance if possible.
" This way you will get to introduce yourself to everyone even if it is just a quick hello.
A quick hello and eye contact are all you need to mingle with that person later on in the event.
2.
Spend 75% of your time with people you don't know.
" Hanging out with people that you already know, you already know.
If you are helpful and friendly they will help you out whenever possible.
So, you already have those people in your rolodex.
Whenever you are at any event spend most of the time making new contacts who will be able to help you grow your business.
3.
Spend 25% of you time building existing relationships.
" You already know these people and have good rapport with them.
They are your friends and they are apart of your team.
But, don't forget about your friends; if you don't spend any time with them they may no longer think of you a good guy.
4.
Don't give your information out too soon.
" After you introduction, ask him or her about herself.
Be interested in them first.
Once you have built enough rapport with them; they will return the favor and be interested in you and then you will be able to tell them the line of work that you are in and you two can try to work out some sort of working relationship.
