The concept of feminomics and calculating the value of a woman's daily work set me thinking about the noun cathexis and the idea of evaluating the woman's intangible investment in another person or her family. Catheifeminomics for me would represent that emotional side of the woman who invests selflessly in another person/relationship especially male/female; mother/children dyads where there is little reciprocity. How can one seriously calculate the value of a woman's emotional and mental investment in her children and family? What value does society place on a woman's ability to invest emotionally and mentally in her true life's purpose and work- her family? Do we in some way water-down the value placed in supportive, loving, trusting matriarchs and martyrs?
The idea of cathexifemionmics came to mind and how we could define a woman's emotional and mental investment in her family. What outcomes would we consider as acceptable versus those which are unacceptable? What yardsticks would we use to determine cultural norms/diversity as to what is acceptable and what is not? How would we distinguish among culturally opposed norms and values? Would the American norm for cathexifeminomics differ to that of the Asian/ Muslim/ Caribbean norms of emotional and mental investment in family/society and one which is taken for granted by a society lauding materialistic and superficial displays of prowess. How can one truly give credence to the mental/emotional investment by its females? Just some food for thought as the concepts of emotional intelligence, motivation, self-esteem and the softer skills continue to add to the enigmatic issues that composes the human psyche.
What sort of checklist would we create to determine what comprises the value and strength of effort that goes into raising a family and being a supportive spouse? What attributes do we distinguish between the quality and quantity of effort and energy involved in such an intangible investment? Just know that women contribute in diverse ways to the emotional quotient and collective self-esteem, collective ambition of each household. We are the nurturers, hunter gathers, makers and breakers of family life so Cathexifeminomics reigns supreme. En avant to ideas on this.
