A World Afraid of Itself
A Continuous Nightmare of Fear Practically every nation on the planet has some form of defensive system! Whether it is from the most basic Blow-pipe, to the ultra modern laser technology, the perceived threat of being attacked is always there.
In bygone days, it was accepted that the population of a country were entitled to be protected from any foreign invader.
Two World Wars provided proof of this and at the end of both, it was stated by various influential persons, that this had been the war to end all wars! From that time on, most people the world over accepted internal and international conflict as part of their normal lives.
From self styled Terrorism to outright massacres in countries that nobody had previously heard of, the art of killing was practiced and fear became an accepted sensation for many.
The portrayal of killing in various ways and by a variety of means soon became a recognized form of entertainment, at movie houses and for the family by way of the television.
Inevitably, viewing people being shot or hacked to death became a natural part of life and the race was on, to provide even more audience related events.
The media were in their element; with so many events taking place, in different parts of the world, reputations were quick to be made and if a journalist or cameraman was obliterated doing their job, then that person was regaled as a hero.
After all, the masses needed their daily dose of adrenalin and viewing live blood was far better and exciting than the movie "Ketchup".
From the plastic and obvious make-believe toy weapons of bygone days, emerged a new and realistic brand of toy weaponry; with some appearing so realistic as to be mistaken for the real article.
The movies became evermore explicit in their action sequences; severed limbs, gouged eyes and the ever present gore became a boring necessity.
Meanwhile, the armament businesses needed to maintain profits, nations had to maintain, justify and support their military forces and new, innovative weapons required on-site testing! While millions of people in the world starved and the ravages of poverty in Africa and other desperate parts of the world increased; the world audiences were kept occupied with scenes of death and destruction, usually created by ever increasing numbers of so called "revolutionaries" or "freedom fighters".
The cancer of fear kept spreading; fueled by the arms and munitions producers and supported by their political allies.
Huge amounts of wealth were exchanged and given as incentives, under the guise of protection and the fear of attack.
As the bodies disintegrated and the blood flowed across the world, the religious leaders threw up their arms in apparent despair to their various Gods, who chose not to listen to their pitiful cries.
The Universe looks down at this planet called Earth.
The Sun still rises in the morning and sets at night.
There is a moon and the stars still provide a comforting blanket in the sky and sometimes, it is a wonderful sensation to just sit quietly and ponder on how it all used to be.
Yes, there have always been conflicting occurrences which is a normal part of development;however, when the inhabitants of a planet start glorifying in it, accepting un-natural and ultimate violence for its own sake, then is it not time for a Universal euthanasia?
