How to Make Indian Shoes

7
    • 1). Trace an outline of your foot on the rubber. Make it about 1/2 inch larger than your foot's actual size. Cut this out using scissors.

    • 2). Poke three small holes in rubber sole: one in the space between your big toe and your second toe, one on the inside arch of your foot about 3 inches in front of the heel and a third on the opposite side. Thread the leather straps through these holes and tie a knot at end to keep them secure.

    • 3). To make close-toed shoes, sew two pieces of animal hide onto the edge of the rubber foot outline. Pull the hide up around your foot and trim away the excess. Sew the hide pieces together where they meet in the back and at the very front. Poke three holes in the hide where it will lie on the top of your foot. Thread the leather straps through these holes to make laces.

    • 4). Test the shoes' durability. Put your foot into the shoe and tie the straps around your ankle to check the fit. Trim the excess rubber from the bottom of the shoe (be careful not to cut off so much that your foot is hanging over the edge).
