Sari Wrap Instructions
- 1). Put on a blouse and petticoat to achieve the Nivi style sari. The petticoat should start at the waist and end at floor level and the blouse should be snug and end just under the bust.
- 2). Tuck the plain end of the sari into the petticoat, and wrap once around your waist from right to left, ending at the starting point. Make sure the sari is touching the floor.
- 3). Make pleats about five inches wide starting from the end. Tuck into the petticoat until you have seven to 10 pleats. Ensure these are even and straight, and then tuck into the petticoat slightly to the left of your navel. Make sure the pleats face left.
- 4). Wrap the sari around yourself one more time, from right to left. The sari should still touch the floor.
- 5). Drape the decorative end, or pallav, over your left shoulder. Leave it loose or pin the sari with a safety pin.
