How to Check on Immigration Status for Green Cards
- 1). Visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, USCIS, website to check the status of your green card application. Enter your receipt number under the "CASE STATUS" box located on the left side of the website. Click the "Check Status" box. Your receipt number is located within the documents you received from USCIS and contains three letters, such as WAC, LIN, SRC or EAC, and 13 digits.
- 2). Sign up to receive your green card case status updates via email or text message. Click on "Sign-up for Case Updates" under the "After I File" section. Complete the online form. You need a valid mobile phone number that is registered in the United States to receive case updates via text message.
- 3). Visit your nearest immigration office to check the status of your green card application, if time allows.
- 4). Contact the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 to get live support and check the status of your green card application.
