Obtaining a Birth Certificate

• 1). Gather the pertinent information, including name, age, sex, date of birth, birth location (including district), and both parents' nam.
  
  
• 2). Contact the Registrar General's Department by telephone at 876-749-0550 or by email at information@rgd.gov.jm. According to the Department, email queries are answered within two business days.
  
  The Registrar General's Department also offers an online birth certificate application. (See References 2) Each online order comes with a tracking number sl customers can check the processing status.
  
  
• 3). Place an order for a birth certificate. Regular shipping for U.S. customers is $55, while express shipping is $85. Customers outside of the U.S. must pay $70 USD for regular shipping, and $110 USD for express shipping.
  
  According to the Department, customers outside of Jamaica must expect seven to 10 business days for processing express orders, and two to four weeks for regular orders.
