There are so many plumbing problems that you can face and not be prepared for.
For example, you may wake up one day to find that your basement is flooded or go for a shower in the morning and find that something is wrong with the water pressure or find that the sewage line backed up.
In times like these you can't do anything but enlist the services of a licensed plumber.
So here is a list of plumbing problems that you may face and this will help you to respond promptly.
One of the most common plumbing problems that you may face is a flooded basement.
If your basement is flooded and it smells bad (like sewage) then you may have a backed up sewer.
If such is the case you need to call in a plumber and they will identify the source of the backup and then get to repairing it.
If your basement is flooded but there is no bad smell then it is just a pipe burst or fluid leakage.
If such is the case then the plumber will first isolate the source of the leakage, repair it and then drain your basement.
Pipe damage or burst pipes are quite common for a number of reasons like frozen pipes, cracks or corrosion.
Frozen pipes are quite common in cold areas and if your pipes are frozen then you need to thaw them out carefully.
If you cannot thaw them out then you need to turn off the water supply and call in a plumber.
If a pipe does burst then you need to turn off the water mains and wait for the plumbing guys arrive.
Clogged drains are also quite a common problem and we normally deal with these with commercially available products.
If the problem persists then you need to call in a plumber before the problem gets worse.
Low water pressure is a symptom of other plumbing problems.
Low water pressure is caused by a number of things like leaky or broken pipes, toilet leaks or a problem with your water pump.
But before you go checking for leaks check your water valves and see they are opened to the full.
If they are open and the water pressure is still low then you need to call in a plumber to resolve the problem for you and deal with it before it gets worse.
Sometimes you may face the problem of a clogged toilet that will not flush and clear away.
This is indicative of a problem deep in the drainage system or a problem with your septic tank.
These are the most basic residential plumbing problems that you will face and since residential plumbing is complex like a maze to should leave the repairing to the experts.
So call in a licensed plumber if you face any of these problems and don't try repairing it as you may need up making the problem worse.
