Protective gear is a must.
In Europe, motorcycle clothing undergoes a series of tests such as abrasion tearing and impact tests to ensure the utmost safety.
If you live in the US, you may want to keep the following points in mind because there are no such tests for our gear.
When it comes to motorcycle parts, a rider's protective gear is one of the most important elements.

The pants you wear should be reinforced at the knee and the hip to provide quality protection.
You should also wear some sturdy, high topped boots made of thick leathers that has a flexible sole.

Other than leather, a thick nylon or other synthetic materials are great for your motorcycle gear as well.
If you wear jeans, invest in the Kevlar brand, they are most resistant to abrasion.
If you wear a leather jacket get one with reinforced elbows and shoulders.
The leather should be thick and durable, and some sort of impact protection would be ideal.
