How to Unlock a Verizon Moto Phone
- 1). Download the firmware for your model of Motorola from a website like Cdma-ware.com, Unlocktotalk.com or Vector.com and save it to your computer's desktop. The firmware should be specific to your Motorola device and the new carrier that you plan to use the device with. This will ensure the new carrier can activate the phone for you.
- 2). Connect the serial cable to your computer. Depending on the model of cable you purchase, the end that connects to the computer might be equipped with a USB connection or a serial connection. Connect the other end of the cable to the Motorola.
- 3). Double click on the software that you downloaded to the computer desktop. After the program opens, follow the on-screen prompts to "flash" the firmware. The phone must be powered on and fully charged. Installing the new firmware can take a while depending on the file size of the firmware.
- 4). Call your new provider and ask them to activate your phone onto their network. You'll need to supply them with the serial number of the phone. This is located under the battery on a sticker that is attached to the back of the phone.
