  Hot tubs and spas are small, above-ground pools designed to hold water and heat it well above the average temperatures for a traditional pool. Hot tubs are used for relaxation and physical therapy; homeowners often install them on patios or decks. However, the tubs are both large and heavy and are difficult to move from place to place. Many homeowners often choose to sell or leave their hot tubs behind rather than transport them. However, when homeowners buy a new tub or decide to move an old one anyway, several methods will work.
  
  

Freight Truck

• Freight refers to freight trucks, which are known for moving hot tubs over long distances. A freight truck is one of the few vehicles that can easily store and handle a hot tub and is usually how the tubs are delivered from the commercial source to the house. The trucks use straps to secure the tub and lifts to raise and lower it.
  
  

Manpower

• When it comes to transporting the hot tub to its place at the house, sometimes manpower is the easiest way; a group of people together--several on each side of the tub--can pick up and move the smaller tubs into place. Owners can also use simple manpower to adjust the tub, making small changes in its placement.
  
  

Dollies

• Dollies are small support systems, short tables attached to a firm set of wheels that are designed for moving large objects. Dollies are often used for moving smaller objects like cabinets, but large dollies can handle a hot tub. Dollies are typically used in conjunction with freight trucks to move the tub down the driveway and into place.
  
  

Plank Runways

• Most hot tubs are installed in the backyard of houses where landscaping does not allow for a smooth driveway all the way around into placement. In this case homeowners can use plank runways to move the dolly over patio pavers, grass, stone and other obstructions in the way. When the hot tub reaches the deck, owners can use the plank runways to move the hot tub up onto it.
  
  

Cranes

• Cranes are a very expensive and time-consuming option, but sometimes owners have no choice if they want the hot tub in a position in their landscape that is not reached any other way. In this case the crane lifts the hot tub over the house and into place.
