Yes! You Too Can Scuba Dive
You don't have to have a sick pack stomach to snorkel.
Nor is it necessary to be able to run a mile.
It is not a requirement to be a great swimmer or even a good swimmer.
More importantly you absolutely do not have to look good in a swimsuit.
Most of us scuba divers look just like you.
As with any sports activity it is always good to consult a physician before beginning.
Yes you can put it on your bucket list because you are not to old to start your underwater adventure.
I personally started and obtained my scuba certificate at the age of 49.
I was trained and certified in just three days by Scuba School International.
AJ was my SSI certified trainer and he is 72 years young.
AJ began his underwater adventures later in life as well.
SSI has training programs from eight years of age and up.
So get the whole family involved including grandpa.
SSI is not the only training available.
PADI and NAUI are also very reputable scuba training schools with highly trained instructors.
Again i would recommend and encourage everyone to consult a physician before starting your underwater adventure.
With that being said, I am not the picture of health.
Plagued with asthma throughout my life as well as sinus problems.
These problems have not prevented me from snorkeling or diving.
In 2004, I broke my back and yes I am a little over weight too.
Not to mention I take medication for panic attacks.
Point being nothing can stop you but you.
Scuba diving equipment must be expensive right? Yes it can be expensive.
The good news is that you do not have to rush out and purchase scuba gear.
most training schools have equipment for rent.
Scuba gear was supplied for my training as part of the package.
It is a good idea to purchase your own mask and snorkel.
This will ensure your mask fits correctly and that the snorkel has not been used by anyone else.
I would recommend getting your first mask at a local dive shop so you have a proper fit for your first dive experience.
Until you find out if diving is for you, it is a good idea just to rent dive equipment.
This will also give you an idea of what you like and don't like.
You might find you need something warmer or cooler.
You can do it.
You can scuba dive but do it for you and only you.
A dive at 15 feet is as relaxing as a dive at 50 feet.
You do not have to go to the ocean or some exotic beach to enjoy scuba diving.
There are places coast to coast, Wyoming to Arkansas.
Branson, Missouri is known for great theater, but it is a fun place to discover scuba diving.
Table Rock Lake State Park Marina offers a one time out discovery dive for you and your family.
It is a great way to find out if underwater fun is for you and yours.
But let me warn you, you will fall in love with the underwater world.
Other divers will become like a second family.
You will become familiar with the term dive buddy.
You will take pride in being someones dive buddy and they will take pride in becoming your dive buddy.
Don't wait another minute to change your life and fall in love with new adventures.
