How to Use a String Trimmer Strap
- 1). Install the strap onto the shaft of your trimmer. On many homeowner models, the hook or screw is located near or next to the ignition switch and handle.
- 2). Unhook the clamp on the strap and hook it onto the eyelet on your trimmer's handle. Open up the strap and loop it around your back so the top part of the strap hangs atop your left shoulder.
- 3). Adjust the length of the strap so the trimmer's throttle trigger is at the height of your naval. Adjust the width of the strap so the trimmer hangs about 4 inches in front of your body.
- 4). Place your right hand on the throttle and your left hand on the top handle bar. Move the trimmer head side-to-side to feel where the weight is centered. If the weight is still forcing you to bend over, or you're using unnecessary strength supporting the weight, adjust the length of the rope so it is about 1 to 2 inches higher than before.
- 5). Stop trimming if you notice any pain in your lower back. Readjust the strap until you are comfortable with its placement.
