How to Conduct a Tarot Card Reading
- 1). Prepare a space where you and/or the person you are reading for will be comfortable without distractions. Include a table, tarot cards, notebook and pen. You may also want to have a candle or incense to help create a receptive atmosphere.
- 2). Meditate on your question or problem while holding and shuffling the cards. If you are conducting the tarot reading for another person, have them hold and shuffle the cards while they meditate.
- 3). Decide on a layout and spread the cards. Most tarot decks come with instructions for simple and detailed layouts. If you are reading for another person, you can direct them on how to place the cards or do it yourself.
- 4). Interpret the individual meaning of the cards. Use the meanings provided with the tarot deck or interpret them solely with your own intuition. Look at the pictures, symbols, colors and numbers to understand what the cards mean.
- 5). Look at the layout as a whole picture. For instance, you may see the cards as a story that begins with the first card in the series and ends with the last. Or, look for a theme that flows through many of the cards.
- 6). Make notes on your reading to better understand the meaning of the cards and to improve your tarot-reading skills.
