Law About Handicap Signs in an Apartment Complex
- The International Symbol of Accessibility should be displayed where there are accessible bathrooms and to indicate where the handicapped parking spaces are located.
- Raised and Braille signage should be located at restrooms, exits, staircases and where there are room numbers or names. According to the ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities, the letters and numerals shall be raised 1/32-inch minimum, be uppercased and use san serif type.

- Entrances to apartment buildings that are not accessible should provide directional signage indicating the shortest route to an accessible entrance to the building.
- Signage in an apartment building, in public areas, should be installed on the wall adjacent to the latch side of the door or the nearest adjacent wall. Mounting height is 60 inches above the floor.
