Replacement Instructions for a Ryobi String Trimmer Line
- 1). Turn off your Ryobi string trimmer. Pull the wire off the spark plug to prevent accidental start-up of the trimmer.
- 2). Turn over the trimmer so that the string-head assembly faces you. Grasp the spool retainer in your hand and turn it clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on the Ryobi string-trimmer model, to remove it. Remove any remaining trimmer line from the spool. Do not remove the spring from the spool.
- 3). Measure and cut two pieces of trimmer line 9 feet long. Use .080-inch line if you own a Ryobi CS30 and .095 for all other Ryobi string-trimmer models.
- 4). Push one trimmer line into the anchor hole in the upper half of the spool; the side closest to the spring is the upper half. Hold the spool with the spring facing you and wind the line around the upper half of the spool counterclockwise until only 6 inches of the trimmer line remains.
- 5). Hold the remaining 6 inches of trimmer line and push it into a slot in the top of the spool to secure the line in the spool. Repeat loading the spool with the second trimmer line, winding it counterclockwise around the bottom half of the spool. Secure the second trimmer line into a slot in the top of the spool.
- 6). Thread the trimmer lines from the spool through the eyelets in opposite sides of the spool retainer. Install the spool into the retailer with the spring facing down.
- 7). Turn the retainer clockwise or counterclockwise to secure it to the Ryobi string trimmer. Gently pull each exposed trimmer line at the same time to rotate the head into the proper positing for trimming your lawn. Replace the wire on the sparkplug on your trimmer.
