Wanna Cure Depression and Anxiety Disorders? Start Muscle Building Exercise
Muscle building exercises not only helps keep the body fit and muscles growing but also works as a "magic cure" for many people with depression and anxiety disorders according to new findings.
"Exercise has shown to have tremendous benefits for the wellness of mental health" said Jasper Smith, Director of Anxiety Research and Treatment program at the University.
Researchers from southern Methodist University in Dallas say mental health care providers should more widely prescribe exercise as a treatment to its patients since "individuals who exercise report fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression and lower level of stress and anger.
" The more, therapists are trained in exercise therapy, the better off patients will be, said the researcher.
Exercise increases the blood flow towards the brain and increases the oxygen level in the blood.
Both the factors improve the mental health of the person.
It has been observed that exercise related moderate stress is helpful in boosting the fetal brain development during the pregnancy.
The stress hormone cortisol plays a role in brain maturation, which may help explain the result, said Janet, who led the study.
The results are based on the findings of an analysis of dozens of population based studies, clinical studies and meta-analytic reviews related to exercise and mental health.
The review demonstrated the efficacy of exercise programs in reducing depression and anxiety.
Exercise can fill the gap for people who can not receive traditional therapies.
The exercise thus does the dual purpose of developing the body muscles as well as curing the mental disorders.
