Emergence of Invasive Cerebral Aspergillosis in an HIV-Positive
Invasive aspergillosis has an incidence of less than 10% in patients with HIV infection. Although neutropenia and corticosteroids are risk factors, invasive disease usually occurs in the context of severe immunodeficiency (CD4 count<20 cells/µL). Mortality rates remain high while invasive cerebral disease is universally fatal.
