When To Go

• The weather is agreeable all year in Barbados. In the winter months, the temperatures average at a high of 70 degrees while in the summer months it goes up to 86 degrees. July is considered the rainiest month, where it averages around 18 days of precipitation. Most tourists come from December to April. The months of September and October can get quite humid and there is hurricane risk from June to October. The high season is often pricier. If you go in the wetter months, it will be much cheaper.
  
  

Transportation

• The Grantely Adams International Airport near Bridgetown is the largest airport in the Eastern Caribbean and services carriers such as American, Delta and US Airways. Many people also come to Barbados on a cruise ship. People staying on the island for less than 24 hours do not need a passport to enter from a cruise ship. The easiest way to get around Barbados is via the public bus system. It is also possible to rent cars, take a taxi or get about via bike. Most of the island is flat, so bicycling is an easy option.

• Bridgetown is the only city on Barbados and offers many things for the tourist. It features a natural harbor and colonial architecture. It is also a popular destination to buy rum. The pedestrian mall of Swan Street is popular, as are the city's numerous outdoor cafes. The most popular food is flying fish, which often comes as a sandwich. Barbados is also famous for its sporting events, including cricket, the island's most popular game.
