How to Get Yellow Spots Out of Table Linen

Things You'll Need

Instructions

1

Removing a fresh stain is much easier than removing one that is set. Always inspect your linens after each use and before you launder them to catch any stains before they are set in by the dryer.
2

Use a corner of the linen as a test area. Follow the procedure below, but do it on a small area of the corner. If the linens become discolored, do not proceed with that particular stain remover.
3

If the tested area does not become discolored, spread out the linens so that the stained area does not have any layers of clean linen underneath it.
4

Use a cotton swab to apply 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to the stained area. This is a slow way to bleach the linen. Regular chlorine bleach will yellow linens and should not be used. Hydrogen peroxide provides a safe way to accomplish the same bleaching action.
5

After five minutes, rinse the linens, then wash in hot water, using a mild detergent or pure laundry soap.
6

Hang the linens in the sun rather than placing them in the dryer. This will prevent any residual stain from being set in.
