How to File State Income Taxes Online
- 1). Visit the website belonging to the Department of Revenue for the state in which you live. Choose the "E-File" link provided by your state. Keep in mind that each state's Department of Revenue website is set up differently than others, and it may be easier to locate the "E-File" link for some states than others.
- 2). Click on the "E-File" link. Each state will offer a list of companies approved by them for electronic filing. Choose the one you'd like to use and click on the link to their site. Each company will guide you line by line through the process of filling out your return, asking for required information as well as any optional information you may have.
- 3). Enter your state tax information where required. Review the information you enter to avoid mistakes and submit your return by clicking on the button that says "Submit."
