Re-Do That Truck Before the Heavy Equipment Auction!

31
Trucks are an essential investment for many industries such as electric companies, forestry, orchards, and telecommunications; however, finding the most reliable vehicle is not always easy. The search for a top quality commercial truck requires an ample amount of time, money and effort. The internet is a good avenue for finding a number of websites or other places that have commercial vehicles. Another effective method for locating these units is to visit local auction houses that specialize in selling heavy-duty equipment, where affordable, durable, reliable, and fully functional trucks can be fond for a business.

It is normal to want to inspect any vehicles before the day of the auction. While both the vendors and the auction companies try to ensure that the equipment being sold makes a good and lasting impression on potential buyers, it is the sole responsibility of the bidder to conduct a thorough inspection during the preview time to investigate for any possible damage and to determine any vehicle's condition. Following are a few of the things that are normally done to these vehicles before they are ready for a sale or a live auction event.

Reconditioning Services

Since most of the vehicles placed for sale in an auction are pre-owned, vendors try to overhaul these trucks and fix any problems that are observed. A used vehicle will be refurbished so that it looks almost brand-new by following these procedures.

  • Inspection - An initial inspection is conducted to reveal any problems that may need to be fixed. This inspection includes checking the engine, tires, interior and exterior of the vehicle as well as looking for any parts that are corroded, rusted, or dented.
Replace Parts €" Any corroded or rusted components are removed and replaced.

  • Cleaning - The exterior surface is cleaned from top to bottom using a power washer.

  • Metal Repair - Any exposed metal part is sandblasted.

  • Exterior Surface - The truck is sanded down to smooth out the surface; a gray urethane coating is applied for priming to make the metal more durable and help to keep it free from corrosion. After this has been done, a protective coating is applied to the truck bed and walkways. This application is known to provide resistance to certain types of impact and abrasion, as well as extending the life of the equipment.

  • Reassembly - The device is then reassembled; corroded and damaged parts are replaced.

  • Detailing - Both the interior and exterior is polished to improve the outer surface. Windows and mirrored surfaces are cleaned, and the tires are pressure-washed to remove dirt. Full truck detailing and complete hand waxing, buffing and shining of the tires is done. Warning sign decals are replaced. Truck lights are checked and repaired or replaced if necessary.

  • Clean Engine - Since the engine is the most important component of the entire vehicle, the vendor will make sure that is cleaned and free from debris. Reconditioning shops usually use water or compressed air to clean dirt from inside the engine bay.

  • Re-Inspection - A mechanic will re-inspect the overall condition of the engine, controls, hydraulic boom, and hydraulic auger to ensure all are completely functional.

  • It is not surprising that a commercial vehicle presented to an auction company in the best possible condition has a greater chance of marketability and buyer attraction to the bidding process. A well-presented vehicle improves the appearance, leaves a lasting impression, increases the resale value, and encourages buyers to make an offer during the auction. Since what happens to these trucks before the auction is extremely important in the whole selling process, it is essential that they be reconditioned, refurbished, and cleaned to the highest standards in order to be ready for the day of the auction sale!
