What to Do When Dry Skin Starts to Spread? The Lips Are Especially Vulnerable!

3
Dry skin is not just an irritation; it is a painful complication that plagues many children and adults, men and women.
Most people realize dry skin first occurring in their hands, feet and arms.
The dry skin will appear coarse and tough to the touch and it may appear unsightly (if a more severe case is in play).
In the worst cases dry skin can lead to bleeding and fine line cracks.
Most people stick to basic moisturizers to alleviate the pressures that dry skin seems to send off but when dry skin begins to spread to other parts of the body most people are left clueless! After all, dry skin is not exclusive to one part of your body and chances are, if you have dry hands you soon experience dryness in other parts of your body! One of the most painful places a person can experience dryness is in their lips.
While you may not think about it until it is too late, the lips are actually the body part most open to dryness during rough patches.
This paragraph is especially pertinent to women because most women use chemically based lipsticks or chap sticks, which can lead to even more dryness.
Here is why: The face is full of lipids and skin cell structures but the lips are not fully equipped with either.
Because of this the lips are wide open to air penetration and dry air.
To keep your lips moist and smooth you will need to apply emollient lipstick on a fairly consistent basis.
The best time to do this is in the morning and especially at night when your lips are most at danger of drying up.
The only things to look out for are any types of lip balms that include menthol or peppermint.
Either of these ingredients can easily become irritating to already dry lips.
While the lips are often the most forgotten piece of the puzzle there are other unique parts of the skin that become dry that often are left out of the 'commercial advertising.
' In all of the commercial advertising you will see dry skin ads with solutions for certain body parts.
These parts often include the hands, the arms and the face.
What is usually left out is how to treat dry skin on less observable parts of the body such as the feet, the lower legs and the abdominals.
These body parts are just as relevant as hands and arms but they just do not get the camera time because they fly just under the radar.
The best ways to treat these normally ignored body parts for dry skin is to use plant oils on top of normal moisturizers.
Moisturizers are of the utmost importance because they 'moisten' up the skin.
There is no going around moisturizers because these are vital! However, after the moisturizer you will want to use a plant oil (olive oil is highly recommended) as an over coating on top.
The antioxidants in plant oil clean and enrich the dry skin areas.
A few other ways you can hit upon these tough to reach areas include: Using several layers of plain, as well as specialized, moisturizers Sleeping near a humidifier as to keep good air around you during your most potent hours Using only gentle soaps (or those with non-drying cleansers) Dry skin that is not just on your hands and face is not an insurmountable obstacle but an easily defeat able foe- if you attack it in the right places!
