People are more opt to adopt a puppy then an older dog.
People believe that puppies would be easier to adapt and bond with a new family because they are so young.
Unfortunately, puppies come with a lot of responsibility because like children, they are a handful and if they are not taught where there place is the household is early on; they can completely take it over and rule your family.
For a lot of people, adopting an older dog feels like a burden.
Older dogs may have health issues or behavioral issues that his new owners are not aware of.
It's hard to know what kind of situation this poor animal as come from and whether or not they might be able to bond with him.
An older dog will most likely already be housebroken and will generally be much calmer than a new puppy.
