How to Make an Origami Mew
- 1). Lay your sheet of paper on a hard flat surface. Fold your paper into a square base. To do this, orient your square of paper so that it faces you like a diamond. Fold in half along the diagonal, crease and unfold. Repeat along the other diagonal. Fold in half so opposite sides meet, crease and unfold. Repeat along the other sides. Push in on the left and right points and following the natural direction of the creases, allow your project to fold into a square. This is a complete square base.
- 2). Fold your square base into a frog base. To do this, fold the left top flap over to the right while pressing down in the middle. This is known as a squash fold. Unfold the flap of the squash fold and flatten it upwards. This is known as a petal fold. Repeat this entire step with the other three flaps. You now have the completed frog base.
- 3). Fold down one of the small flaps. Repeat on an adjacent flap.
- 4). Rotate your project horizontally. Fold down the top flap in to the middle. Fold the bottom flap up to meet the top flap and flatten both. Rotate your project vertically again.
- 5). Open the sides and pull out the small flaps as far as they will go. Be careful not to rip your origami paper. These are Mew's arms.
- 6). Fold the bottom point upwards as far as it will comfortably go. Flip your project over. Fold in half to one side and then fold in half to the other side. Turn your project over and repeat the folds on the other side.
- 7). Turn the project over again and fold the top point down a little less than halfway. Squash down the new top point to form Mew's head. Using your fingers as guides, open up the sides of your project and push Mew's arms and legs outwards.
- 8). Fold in the corners of the feet and tail to make them pointed. Your Mew is now complete.
