Sewell, Chile: American School and Playground
Before total destruction, this view of the two story school house and the playground is a sad reminder of my school days from kindergarten to sixth grade. The school operated on the Calvert Correspondence System with teachers whose husbands were employed also by the company.
Across the path, to the right in this view, there was a level concrete play area for football, roller skating and other sports.
As soon as the end of recess bell sounded, someone made sure to kick the ball high over the fence so it would tumble down the mountain and have to be retrieved--a sure way to get out of class.
