How to Have a Relatively Accident Free Period

11
    • 1). Carry pads, panty liners and tampons with you at all times. While some women can mark the day their period begins on a calendar, others must simply wait for spotting, so always be prepared so that you can start your period accident free. Additionally, because the heaviness of your period will vary from day to day, it's always a good idea to have backup.

    • 2). Use heavy flow tampons and pads on your heaviest days. If your flow is still too heavy, consider using a tampon and a pad to prevent spotting on your underwear or pants. Make sure that you change your tampons and/or pads every two to four hours both for safety and to prevent leaks.

    • 3). Consider using a menstrual cup made from rubber or silicone which you can disinfect and reuse time and time again. Once you learn how to properly insert a menstrual cup, you can ensure accident free periods, as they work even better than tampons and can be worn, without leaks, for 8 to 12 hours.

    • 4). Prevent your pad from moving around by wearing tighter underwear or even topping your underwear with bike shorts or pantyhose. When your underwear is allowed to roam, leaks happen.

    • 5). Protect yourself from accidents when wearing a panty liner by using two instead of one. Because thin panty liners do not come with wings, often spotting occurs on your pants when underwear shifts. Place one pad horizontally and wrap it around the sides of your underwear and then use a second panty liner on top as you normally would.
