How to Get Resell Rights
- 1). Find a product you would like to sell. Market research is vital in this stage. You don't want to waste your time and money on a product that will not sell. Take the time to thoroughly research the product, its intended market and particularly the competition.
It is important to remove any enthusiasm you may feel for the product and look at it logically. - 2). Develop an initial marketing plan for the product. Determine how much money you are willing to spend in marketing this new product and what avenues you will need to use to effectively sell it.
- 3). Contact the rights owner. After you have completed the initial research and planning phase, you will need to get in touch with the owner of the rights to determine the terms of purchasing the resell rights.
Many will simply state on their site that once you buy the product you have resell rights, while others will just offer the rights for free. Still others will want to maintain partial rights ownership where you pay them a percentage of your sales. - 4). Work out an agreement with the seller. This process is of course expedited if the seller already has stated that purchasers have resell rights. Otherwise, you may want to consider drafting a legal contract and getting the assistance of an attorney so that both your rights and the rights of the seller are protected.
- 5). Begin marketing the product. Once you have all of the legal work done, you can begin implementing your marketing plan for the product and selling it either online or in a physical store.
