New Years Eve Washington DC Has Some Incredible Lounges
New Years Eve Washington DC is known for its variety of parties at bars, clubs, lounges, restaurants, and hotels. Obviously not every scene is for everyone, so whether or not you live in the area, or come to DC for a New Year's Eve mini-vacation, there's something for everyone.
I've tried a bit of everything over the years, as I live just outside DC in the suburbs. I like to go lounge hopping. There's nothing like spending your new year's eve d.c. at a multi level lounge, sipping amazing champagne, listening to music, and having great conversation with a group of friends. Some lounges are louder and geared toward dancing, and others are mellower, where you can actually hear yourself speak.
If you choose to spend your New Years Eve Washington DC "lounge-hopping", do your research. The Internet has a wealth of information on how each lounge chooses to ring in the New Year. Some have live music, some have the best DJs, and others have great drink specials and reasonable ticket prices. Also, it doesn't hurt to ask around and see which lounges have the best reputations.
My night usually begins at around 8:00p.m. My friends and I book a reservation at one of Washington's most delicious restaurants, order a bottle of champagne, and enjoy a great meal. Then it's off to the lounges. I prefer my New Years Eve in DC to be relaxing and quiet. Since I have a boyfriend, as do the friend's I spend the evening with, we prefer places that aren't pick-up scenes. The funny thing is, I met my current boyfriend at a club that had a loud, but great party going on. We could barely hear ourselves speak over the music and other people so I suggested we head to this comfortable lounge and get to know each other better. If it weren't for the champagne, I wouldn't have had the guts to pull a man I didn't know out of a club! But it worked out because two years later we're still together.

Our friend's will be at the lounges and I'm sure we'll hear all about the incredible time they had, but it's been below freezing for three weeks straight and I'd rather have a nice warm romantic evening at home with my boyfriend. Perhaps next year I'll head back out to the lounges.
