How to Relieve Arthritis Aches, Pain and Swelling
- 1). See your doctor. Make sure your joint pain is arthritis and not another medical condition.
- 2). Avoid foods that worsen arthritis symptoms such as potatoes, bell peppers, tomatoes and red meat. Keep a food journal to note what affects you.
- 3). Take fish oil capsules daily. Fish oil capsules are available at natural pharmacies and health food stores.
- 4). Increase your flexibility. Stretch your body every day.
- 5). Exercise. Perform exercises that are easy on painful joints such as swimming or walking. Swimming is the best exercise because it takes the pressure off of stiff and swollen joints. Walk or swim as far as you comfortably can. Walk, even if you can only walk a short distance at a time. Increase your distance gradually over time.
