How to Light a Flag on a Flag Pole
- 1). Measure the flagpole. Select a solar light that will have a strong light source at night. The 50-watt halogen solar spotlights will work the best for lighting the flag on a 15- to 30-foot flagpole.
- 2). Use the tape measure to measure out from the flagpole. Use half the length of the flagpole to find the ideal location for the solar light. For instance, if your pole is 20 feet high, measure out 10 feet from the pole.
- 3). Place the solar light in the ground. Point the light in an upward direction, so it would shine on the pole right below the flag.
- 4). Wait for dark, see where the light is shining and make adjustments, if necessary. You may need to adjust the light up or down a bit, but the length should stay the same to capture the flag in any direction.
