How to Repair Scratches on an Electrolux Stainless Cooktop
- 1). Remove debris from the cooktop. Avoid using sharp or metal objects to scrape off food, which may cause scratches. Squirt a small amount of mild dish soap onto a damp, soft cloth to remove residue. Thoroughly dry the cooktop.
- 2). Wipe the surface with the stainless steel cleaner provided by the manufacturer. Squirt cleaner onto a clean cloth then evenly apply to the surface. Rinse off the cleaner and buff with a lint-free cloth.
- 3). Assess the scratch. If the scratch has diminished, no further action is necessary. Follow up with routine cleaning as needed. If the scratch remains deep, there are several courses of action. The cooktop may be refinished, sanded or left as is.
- 4). Call the Electrolux customer service number at 1-877-4ELECTROLUX. While scratches are not covered under the product warranty, consult a representative before attempting to remedy the issue. - 5). Sand the scratch lightly and with care if the choice is made to attempt repair. Choose a medium grit sandpaper of 80 to 120 grade. Use a small corner of the paper to minimize contact with unscathed steel. Buff the scratch with a soft cloth. Follow with application of stainless steel cleaner.
