Looking For Diets That Really Work?

27
Are you frustrated with cycling through diet after diet and not getting the results you want? Perhaps, like me, you've tried just about every diet out there, popped diet pills, starved yourself and still can't seem to lose the weight.
The truth is that most diets don't work for a number of reasons.
Once you understand why certain types of diets won't help you to lose weight then you will have a better understanding of what you do need to do in order to drop the pounds and get the body that you want.
This article will discuss why most diets don't work and what you should try instead.
The major reason that dieting doesn't work is because it tends to slow down your metabolism.
When I talk about metabolism I am referring to the number of calories your body burns naturally while you are living your life like normal.
If your metabolism is fast it means that you burn more calories while you are at work, sitting watching TV, lounging around or even sleeping.
A slow metabolism, on the other hand means that you burn fewer calories during the course of a day.
When you go on a diet you typically cut your calorie intake way back and as a result your metabolism slows down to compensate for the decreased calories that you are taking in.
A slower metabolism means that you aren't going to burn as many calories as easily as before.
That's bad news for a couple of reasons.
First, it will make it harder to lose weight even if you have cut your calories way back.
Second, it means that as soon as you go off your diet and start eating normally again it will be way easier to gain back any weight that you did lose.
The key to losing weight is to follow a diet that works with your body to keep your metabolism from slowing down like most of the diets out there.
A good way to do this is by shifting calories.
Basically, shifting calories means that you alternate the number of calories and types of food that you eat day to day, eating more calories one day and fewer the next.
This effectively keep your metabolism guessing and keeps it from slowing down which in turn means that losing weight becomes easier.
Not only that, but it will also make it much easier to keep the weight off when you do go off the diet.
Although the concept behind shifting calories is easy to understand, it can be a bit difficult to do on your own since you have to know how many calories to eat each day, which days to cut back on calories and the right types of foods to eat.
